The laughs and drinks were plentiful for Whitney’s bachelorette weekend at the lake. I wish I could bottle up all the fun we had and save it for a rainy day, but I guess that’s what InstagramΒ is for.
Before we left, I knew I wanted to create a little something for the gals that we could use while we were there. There are no shortage of these chalkboard mason jars on Pinterest, but some of them can get pretty technical and require tools I clearly don’t have. You can even buy them pre-made, but I think putting in a little effort to DIY is always more exciting. So, I give you: The 5-Minute DIY Mason Jar Tutorial.
Here’s what you will need:
– Mason jars, that’s a given. However, steer clear of the Ball brand for this particular project. I made this mistake and found out the hard way that the chalkboard stickers just don’t stick because of the raised text. I lucked out and found jars at the Dollar Tree with “Country Fair” printed on one side with nothing on the other. Plus, they had handles. #score
– Chalkboard stickers, found at Target, Michael’s, etc.
-Fun straws! I picked these up at Hobby Lobby, but my friend Sydney brought some that were pink and white and matched the bachelorette decor even better π
-Straw “holder” or mason jar insert. I found the ones pictured at Michael’s
-String or ribbon
-Chalk
– Ingredients for your drink of choice. I prefer a 50/50 blend of champs + oj
These couldn’t be easier. I started by writing out each name on the chalkboard sticker and then applied them to the front of the (cleaned) glass jar. I assembled the mason jar insert and put the straws in place and followed it up by measuring out the ribbon to tie around the top. That’s it. I told you it was easy!
They ended up being perfect for sippingΒ mimosas on the dockΒ and catching a few rays.Β I’ll be back later this week to share a few more snaps from our weekend. Happy Monday!
so cute!!
Thank you for the adorable glass! I unpacked mine this morning from my carry-on and it made me smile again. π This weekend was one for the books. Miss you already!

It’s so easy and the ladies seem to have loved them!
Thanks Kari! I know, once I saw the stickers I thought, I can handle this! My writing looked so amateur, but in our defense, chalk is chunky! I hope your weekend was great, too π See you soon!
I’m glad we put them to good use! π It sure was haha. Miss you too, but I’ll see you again in just a few months!
Thanks Angela!
Ummm….this is adorable. Considering the fact that my current life path is leading to “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” I better work on my crafting skils π xx
So easy but suuuuuper cute- my fave combo. π
