This past weekend was jammed packed, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I went to my first Royals game of the season, got a little bit of deep cleaning done and spent Sunday afternoon on the lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Museum.
I only have a few months left with my list of 27 things before 27 and it’s crunch time! There are so many things I have left to do, but again, I’m striving for progress, not perfection. There are a few bigger things going on in my life right now that don’t leave me as much time for some of the “extras” on my list, but I’m okay with that. With that being said, I’m not giving up just yet! Below are some highlights from the things I have been able to accomplish lately.
2. Run a 10k and three 5ks. I’m sure you all know by now that I conquered my first half marathon a few weeks ago, but this past weekend I ran the KCCC 5k and I’m adding it to the list! After the race Shanley introduced me to the best brunch spot in town: The Farmhouse. Hands down the best scrambled eggs of my life. I even took a side of the local raspberry jam to go – it was that good. Naturally, we followed breakfast up with dessert at a little shop in River Market where I had my first beignet ever and it was phenomenal. If you need me next weekend, I can probably be found standing in line for that powdered sugar goodness.
10. Read more. So far I’ve knocked out: Revenge Wears Prada, The Husband’s Secret, Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church, Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant, Gone Girl and The Fault In Our Stars, which I finished a few weekends ago. If you only read one book from this list, make it The Fault In Our Stars. I’ve never read anything that made me feel so much pure emotion. I didn’t know anything about the book other than the fact that it was going to make me “ugly cry.” I emerged from a pool of tissues on a Sunday afternoon wishing there were more pages to turn. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read the book, but I highly recommend you add it to your list. You won’t regret it.
11. Grow a plant. My DIY terrarium seems to be flourishing and I am one proud plant mom!
19. Run/walk/jog/elliptical my way through 1,000 miles. 679 miles down. It was blistering hot during my last gym visit. Apparently Missouri has skipped spring and gone straight for summer (and my gym didn’t get the memo).
25. Attend a First Fridays event in downtown KC. That 5 o’clock whistle blew last Friday and I couldn’t have been more relieved! Pete and I headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant for margaritas (and copious amounts of chips and salsa) before meeting up with my sister and friends. We stopped by the cutest little boutique downtown where Tara Light was hosting the grand opening of her shop Fable. The place was stocked with goodies from Catbird and delicate pieces created by Ms. Light.
You can take a look at my full list of 27 things before 27. Are you working on anything big at the moment? I can’t wait to hear!

It’s so so delicious! Thank you so much!
Thanks, lady! Oooo, great idea! Count me in π
It’s been a few years since I’ve been to a First Fridays event, and I need to put that on my list of things to do this summer. It’s awesome you’re crossing so many things off your to do list. I really want to make a terrarium. I keep putting it off, but I just need to try it:)
You would love books by Rainbow Rowell! Eleanor and Park, Fangirl, etc. Those are light reads. The perfect way to cap a day off π
