Last week I had the opportunity to take a tour of Park Place in Leawood and I was pleasantly surprised by what they had to offer! Admittedly, I tend to stay on the Missouri side since that’s where we live, but it’s nice to explore different areas that the suburbs of Kansas City have to offer every once in awhile.
Their decor is some of the best |
The first stop on the tour was t. Loft. They have been on my radar for quite some time now so I was eager to sample some of their most popular drinks and eats. If you would have told me I would actually like something with vegetables in it before trying their fresh juice, I probably would have let out a little chuckle. Move over Juice Stop, I’ve found an even healthier and just as tasty alternative. Everything is fresh and whole, so when they say you’re getting an orange, ginger, carrot, apple, lemon and parsley drink, they mean it. I saw the ginger root with my own eyes. If that drink sounds like it would suit your taste buds, it’s called the Mean and Clean and is great for detoxing. Another favorite of mine was the Alive and Alert juice, which had both spinach and kale in it. I’m a texture freak, so finding a green juice that I enjoyed was like health heaven. As for the peanut butter energy balls I tried? Well, they tasted like dessert. When they offered to package up what we didn’t eat in doggy bags, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
Up next was Fitness Culture, a stylish boutique filled with hand picked fitness apparel from the best of the best. Shop owner, Petra, believes that clothes should fit the body, not that the body should fit the clothes. Her knowledge of the upcoming fitness trends makes me want to go back so that I can be dressed for fitness success! I fell in love with the glimmering rack of printed pants. Believe it or not, they’re made out of mostly recycled water bottles. Win-win if you ask me.
Our last stop on the tour was Orange Theory Fitness. I’m constantly looking for ways to switch up my fitness routine to keep me out of fitness ruts. Let’s just say the 60 minute sweat session was one of the toughest I’ve ever experienced. We switched between weight circuits, running on the treadmill and rowing. I was hooked up with a heart rate monitor during the class which allowed me to see which moves and activities sent my heart rate soaring and when I needed to pick it up a bit. If you aren’t used to working out with a heart rate monitor (which I’m not) it is something that may take some getting used to.
If you’re looking for something new, I highly suggest you contact them to find out how you can get three free classes – tell them I sent ya!
That wraps the mini fitness tour at Park Place in Leawood. What are you looking forward to trying out next?
