Good eats in Kansas City

I’m not going to pretend I know everything there is to know about food in Kansas City, my girl Shanley has that covered. However, I have become quite fond of The Westside Local and I can’t get seem to get enough. The photos below are supporting evidence of my addiction.

Last night Pete and I enjoyed a nice Sunday dinner inside while it rained. I ordered the Grilled Cheese with brie and shatto white cheddar and he had the Summit Burger. On a recent visit with friends one of the guys claimed it was the best burger he’s ever had. That’s a pretty impressive statement. I personally think it’s the farm-to-market aspect that makes everything taste that much better.
I’m not big on tomato soup, so I bypassed that and ordered extra Parmesan & Parsley Fries and a side of Garlic Aioli Sauce. Mouth-watering, I tell ya. I’m looking forward to those leftovers.

They also offer a great selection of beers and specialty drinks, but I like to play it safe and always go for a Boulevard. The garden-like patio area provides a relaxing atmosphere that can’t be beat.

Another one of my favorites is their Mac & Cheese (it’s huge!) topped with sourdough bread crumbs. It’s a carb lover’s heaven. I’m anxious to give their blunch a go sometime in the near future – I’ve heard it’s just as amazing as everything else they offer.

  11. You definitely don’t have to be a food connoisseur to know good food! So, I’m glad that you decided to share your experience with your readers. Kansas City is super close to my hometown, Omaha! And a guy in my boyfriend’s band is from there. So next time we hit the big KC, I’m definitely going to have to check out The Westside Local. Beautiful images and writing – thanks for sharing! XOXO

  12. Love this place! Husband and I both love it — and it can be challenging to find a good restaurant that’s veggie and meat friendly. πŸ™‚
