August, is that you? I know, I’m just as shocked as you are to be writing that out. On the fourth, no less.
I’m getting back into the swing of half marathon training – putting one foot in front of the other, while simultaneously hoping I don’t keel over from a heat stroke. I’m looking forward to running the Kansas City Half Marathon in October (cool weather!) alongside one of my best friends…hey, Meg! I did, however, miss one teeny tiny little detail. The race is the Saturday after we get back from our cruise. Meaning we get back Friday and I’ll be racing bright and early Saturday morning. Big, big oops (and a true testament to my scatterbrained nature as of late). But there’s no turning back now.
I usually subscribe to the less is more option when it comes to workout wear because my body tends to overheat in even the coolest of temps. Old Navy’s activewear is by far some of my favorite on the market – for both functionality and price. I own three pairs of their compression pants (which offer more coverage for strength training classes or Bar Method) and I’m looking to add a few more with color to add some pizzazz to my workout wardrobe.
I’ll be rotating this pair of running shoes with my waveriders during training, but I knew I needed to invest in a pair of tennis shoes that work for strength training as well. I’ve gotta hand it to Nike, the cushioning on these are like heaven on my feet and at $75, the price is right.

I love Old Navy’s compression line. I’m also a big fan of Fabletics leggings.
I bought this pair last night (http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=53935&vid=1&pid=525202762) as well as two sports bras and two tanks… oops! Love their workout clothes! And I just registered for my first half marathon – ahh!

Ooo, your first half…how exciting!! What race are you doing?
the Minneapolis Monster Dash on Halloween – I’m so excited 🙂
I love ON and need to try these leggings!
Congrats on the half marathon training! I am considering signing up for one in February in Arizona, mostly because the training would be the perfect time of year and it gives me lots of time to get back into running. Your post title reminded me of my marathon training a couple of years ago. It was the first time I wore compression socks/tights after a run and I loved them (I wore the Zensah compression sleeves from Amazon – they come in a ton of fun colors too).I usually wore them for several hours after a long run and would consider wearing them during a long run during my next training. Good luck staying cool!
Thank you 🙂 Do it!! Thank you! I’ll have to check out this brand.
I just started running lately (training for a 5K) and it’s been so hard finding some running pants that are durable, inexpensive, and don’t make me want to pass out in this 100 degree Texas weather. Definitely will check out Old Navy’s active section! I always forget to look there. Good luck on your half marathon!
Woo, get it girl! I swear by these pants and my two running skorts (best thing ever). I linked to one of them down below and the other I picked up at Target years ago. Thank you and good luck with your training as well!!
I’m so envious of you running long distances! I can’t seem to set my mind to run more than a mile or two. It must be the sprinter in me from high school 😉 Gap compression capris are my favorite because they don’t “fall” down and are cute and affordable.
These don’t fall down either, which is an absolute must when doing any sort of activity! It took me awhile and it’s definitely rough getting back into the swing of things. You would be surprised what your body can do if you can get past the physical and just focus on the mental 🙂
THOSE SHOES ARE SO GOOD!
I would go look, but I’m no longer allowed to buy activewear I’m addicted.

I love Old Navy’s workout clothes too! Such a good price, and one of the only non-see through pants out there… lol.
100% NOT a runner, but I’m always on the lookout for good workout clothes!
Wow, this sports outfit looks absolutely cute and I really like your trainers. 😀
Do you wear them without socks – are they comfy that way?
I do both! Sometimes I wear them around town without socks, but when I’m working out…I always like to have socks on 😉
Cute workout look! I wish I could do a half marathon – 5K’s are about as far as I go 🙂

That’s still something! Hope you had a great weekend 🙂
I’m a huge fan of Old Navy’s capris as well – especially since they aren’t expensive! I love running in Nike Pro’s though for the warmer months. Good luck with training, October is a great month to race!

Thank you, Maddy! I’m really looking forward to running in the fall 🙂
I like your shoes and legging. Good going, keep it up.
