Remember when I said we picked up our first Christmas tree (which in all reality was a little gold table topper from Target)? After seeing everyone putting up their life size trees, I made the executive decision that we would be getting a real tree of our own and lucky for me, Pete obliged. I wasn’t lying when I said I’m feeling all sorts of festive this year!
I snapped a pic of the newest addition to our living room and sent it to my Nana, joking that we have three measly ornaments, but she didn’t see anything wrong with that. She reminded me that what it isn’t lacking is love, which is the most important part and I would have to agree!
After decking the halls and sending out holiday cards, it’s clear that we are about to embark on the thick of holiday season which means it’s time to break out those party dresses and start planning what to do with those locks! Can you tell I’m excited? We debuted the first holiday hairstyle how-to last week and we’re back this week with a fresh look you can add to your arsenal!
Follow along with Jordan’s simple steps to create the look below! (you can always pin the images for later by hovering over the left hand corner of the image)
After blow drying, prep hair by curling loosely and applying short spritzes of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray at the roots.
Begin teasing in one-inch sections at the crown, stopping an inch or so away from the front hairline.
Work hair into place by gently combing the surface to smooth while leaving the under sections teased.
Section the hair in two, as if you are going to secure the hair in pigtails. Leave a small section loose on each side of your part to frame the face.
Gather one of your sections and create a slightly off-center pin curl or bun, securing tightly with pins.
Prep the ends of the remaining hair with Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, this will provide additional grip as you pin.
Cross the section to the opposite side, allowing the hair to spread and cover the pin curl or bun.
Tuck the ends of the section behind the bun and secure with pins.
Detail any face framing pieces with a curling iron.
Cross a section from each side across the top of the bun and pin the ends securely behind.
Finishing the look off with a velvet bow adds a touch of flare and couldn’t be more appropriate for the wintery months! I picked one up in black, too, that way I’d be set for a few different looks.
If you’re like me, you probably have a few holiday parties and soirees filling your calendar this year. For more holiday hair inspiration, see the braided holiday hairstyle how-to and we’ll be back with that chic ponytail that was promised next week!
