Happy Wednesday, friends! Did you get a long weekend? I took full advantage of the weather on Monday and spent as much time as possible outside. It’s going to be a real struggle not to do the same today knowing the temp is going to be a perfect 70 degrees!Twenty six days stand between us and that sweet spring sunshine. That’s manageable, right?! Even though the temps have been unseasonably warm here in Chicago this week, it looks like it’s back to regularly scheduled programming come the weekend (read: 34 with a slight chance of snow…oy). Knowing that has me craving this moody color palette!
Someone recently asked me how I would define my style, and I let them in on a little secret. My style is ever-changing, often influenced by how I’m feeling when I wake up in the morning. The older I get, the more comfortable I feel dressing in something simply because I like the way I feel when I wear it, even if it might seem a little out of the box from an outsider’s perspective.
Some days I live in spandex and other times I’m stepping out in heels. The only real requirement is that I have to be comfortable! I’m of the belief that if you’re not comfortable in what you’re wearing, it comes across in your body language and if you don’t have that going for you, the outfit is shot to begin with.
I’ve been drawn to edgier pieces lately (think all black everything, leather, dark florals, and the like). My friend Alyssa was wearing a pair of these leather Converse sneakers over the weekend and I was able to score them on Zappos for $22 using some coupon codes! They would look equally great with this flirty dress as they would with these distressed skinnies (size down), a casual tee (this one is a favorite closet staple of mine – I have it in three colors!), and a dainty necklace.
Madewell recently launched a line of intimates and it’s good. Exhibit A: this bralette – such a great price and super flattering on, too!
I know you might not be thinking about adding a leather jacket to your wardrobe at this point in the season, but this one is on sale for $60 and you’ll thank yourself come next fall!
I do a ton of walking and can often be found working in communal places. These noise cancelling headphones are an investment I’m toying with (bonus points: drowning out anything and everything on flights).
I have this crossbody bag in pink and it was a major wardrobe workhorse last summer.
Not style related, but something I wanted to include here. I’ve read a handful of Felicia’s short stories on Medium and they are truly pieces of work. I can’t wait to dive into her newest book, Follow Me Into The Dark!
Are you ready to transition over to springtime pastels, or are you holding onto your darks a little while longer?
