Last month I set out to go 30 days without pop for one of my 23 by 28 goals and by some crazy miracle, I made it! You can read the rundown on my pop drinking habits if you’re curious. You are probably thinking, “big whoop, I know tons of people who don’t drink pop.” But the real kicker is when I tell people that I essentially went 30 days without caffeine, since I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks. The enthusiasm you see in the morning is all me, baby.
In all honestly, I didn’t see any miraculous changes in my body or the way I felt, but I probably didn’t drink enough of it in the first place to notice a real difference. There was no shaky withdrawal stage and there were no debilitating headaches that screamed for a caffeine cure.
Is this the end of me drinking pop? Who knows. I just don’t have the desire to drink it right now. My biggest pitfall used to be when we went out to eat, but now when the waiter comes and asks for our drink order, I don’t think twice about ordering water. I’ve also noticed that this has rubbed off on a certain some I know *cough* Pete *cough.* It saves money, which I can’t complain about. I’ll be interested to see how the holidays go. My grandma always has her fridge stocked with ice cold Dr. Pepper’s and I’m not sure my self control will hold up. Especially if she has a fresh batch of her homemade chex mix whipped up – they go together so well!
As for the #Fit30Days, I clocked in at 27 workouts. I was really aiming for a perfect 30/30, but sometimes you just have to listen to your body. After a particularly hard workout at Health House where I was introduced to the bulgarian bag, I was crippled. The following day I managed to get a long walk in, but day two proved to be just as bad and I gave my body the rest it was begging for. Let’s just say that I blame the other missed workouts on the Kansas City Royals. It’s not every year that your team goes to the World Series! My goal was to get moving, even if that meant a few laps around the neighborhood. I filled the rest of my days with Bar Method classes, brisk walks outside and I even attended run club with Athleta KC on two different occasions.
I’m as ready as I’m ever going to be for the bridesmaid dress I’ll be donning this weekend. I’m off to celebrate one of my best friend’s wedding!
I should try the 30/30 challenge but I’m scared lol, have fun at the wedding.
27 is awesome! Good job lady! I’m going on a few months without caffeine now and I have way more energy!
It’s funny how that works, isn’t it? 🙂
I stopped drinking soda years ago! I think it was one of my first steps to being healthier in high school.

I wish it wouldn’t have taken me so long to kick the habit!
I LOVE your new blog design!! It’s so fresh and breezy! Great logo, too!! Well done, girl:) If I tried to give up pop, I think I would have those crazy withdrawal symptoms:) I know I should, but it tastes so good with my salty snacks! Hope you have a great time at the wedding!!
Thank you so much miss Kari! It means a lot coming from you 🙂
Dang girl! So awesome, 27?!?!?!?! I would be killin’ my goals if I reached that number! You are so inspiring 🙂 Have fun at the wedding! I am going to an old blogger’s wedding if you ever followed Heather from Pearls and Paws! I can’t wait!
i’m not a huge caffeine person- most of the tea I drink is decaffeinated. But for people who rely on it a lot- this must be hard! p.s. your new posts are showing up in my reader yay!
Whew, I’m so glad they are! I’m such an amateur haha
Congrats! 27/30 days of working out is an awesome achievement!

27/30, that’s awesome!!!
I love this goal idea. I have thought about giving up pop but I’m not sure if I really want to. haha
You go girl! I’m so impressed you went so long without caffeine and 27 workouts in 30 days. I have such a hard time prioritizing my workouts. Any tips? Congrats!
I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding! I know you will look beautiful! xo
I write workouts down in my planner! Just like any other task I want/need to complete. Luckily, it’s become such a part of my routine that my body craves it and it is huge stress relief for me 🙂 I think figuring out what you really enjoy is key…even if that means trying every class or workout in the book haha.
No caffeine at all. That’s amazing! I think that’s what’s been holding me up without the soda. I still have sweet tea and warm tea, as well as the occasional coffee. Congrats on a great accomplishment, Jess! 🙂
Thank ya! I wish I liked tea and coffee, but I’m just super picky 😉
Great job lady!! I’m thinking about switching from Coffee to Tea (for sugar purposes) and I’m terrified of going without coffee! Hoping to use this post as inspiration 🙂
