To say my trip to Dallas was eventful would be the understatement of the century. It was absolute chaos, but I loved every minute of it (almost). Winter Storm Cleon reared it’s ugly head just after we passed through Oklahoma City which made the last few hours of the drive down treacherous (little did we know…this would be a cakewalk compared to what Sunday had in store for us). I envy my Dad and Stepmom’s ability to remain calm, even when shit is hitting the fan. While they were calm, cool and collected, I was a sweaty nervous mess in the back of the minivan. Thankfully my Papa Colonel had a seasonal sampler of Blue Moon waiting for us at the hotel, the Gingerbread Spiced Ale is my new favorite! I’m planning a tearful memorial for when its seasonal availability is up.
As you can see, I practically lived in this bobble hat from the Gap. It kept me warm during the games in the arena. Dawson’s team didn’t play as great as they had hoped, but it was so much fun watching them (he’s one of the team’s two goalies). It’s amazing how much they have progressed and I couldn’t be more proud. One positive about the icy roads was that it forced us to spend time catching up with the clan in the hotel and it was a blast. As for the trip home, it took 16 hours and I have nothing positive to say about that. (“If you don’t have anything nice to say…,” thanks Mom.)
