Spring Bucket List

I didn’t realize just how much my mood was affected by the weather until I moved to Chicago and this past winter was especially rough. It’s crazy what a little sunshine and (slightly) warmer temps can do for a girl!what to do in Chicago this springI will say though, I’ve been so tired these past few days. I think my body is still in full on recovery mode after being back in Kansas for a whole week (and standing in one of my best friend’s weddings!). Hoping my energy levels balance back out soon because I’m pretty sure mainlining caffeine to power through my days has been doing me more harm than good. But what can ya do? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I finally sat down to put together my spring bucket list and I’m so ready to be active outside as much as humanly possible in the coming months!

One of my best friends, Tish, is coming up the last week/end of May and we already have so many fun things mapped out, which actually makes up most of the list below!

Go on a Wendella boat sunset cruise – Hands-down my favorite place to watch the sun say goodnight is on the back of a boat out on Lake Michigan. I still remember the first time I watched it dip below the skyscrapers and this feeling of immense gratitude and contentment knowing I had found a place where I really felt at home. I’ve taken the architecture tour before (which sounds super touristy, but it was really cool to learn more of the city’s history!) and this time around I’d love to see what their sunset cruise is all about.

Take in the city’s skyline at 360 Chicago and have drinks at BAR 94 – The view from 360 Chicago at the top of the John Hancock building is the best you’ll get of Lakeshore Drive, where the waters of Lake Michigan bleed into the city. It’s also home to BAR 94, which is the highest bar in Chicago, and I can’t think of a better place to toast to the carefree seasons ahead!

Rent a surrey and bike up and down the lakefront – Thinking a mini cooler and little speaker would fit rather nicely in the front basket, no? Will pedal for beers. 🤓 I’ve rented Divvy bikes before but everything is more fun with friends and I can already see us all piled in there now haha.

Go skydiving again – I’ve been thinking about jumping out of a plane ever since I did it in the summer of 2017 so when Tish texted and asked how I’d feel about round two while she’s here, I couldn’t say yes fast enough (I think my friend Melissa is going to join in for her first time, too!). I’m going to make the jump from 18,000 feet this time around! You can get a skydiving discount  in Chicago by using code 26 for $20 off a 14,000 or 18,000 foot jump!

Finally get to Z Bar for drinks around the fire pits – My list of Chicago spots to try is miles long and I find myself frequenting the same spots simply out of habit. I’ve been saying I’m going to make it to the bar at the Peninsula for the longest time now! Z Bar sits perched above Michigan Avenue and their posh patio looks like just the spot to spend the happiest of hours.

Try a floating meditation class – Exhale offers a new class (it’s on Classpass!) where you float in a silk hammock and move through 30 minutes of guided meditation. I haven’t practiced meditating much (I’ve been to a class or two at Chill and then did flotation therapy a few weeks ago, which is essentially meditation on your own) and I’d really like to start making this part of my overall wellness routine to help reduce some of the stress and anxiety in my life.

Take my first CrossFit class – This is Tish’s forte! I’ve always been incredibly intimidated by the class format and said I wouldn’t go without someone who really knows what they’re doing. I think with her being there I’ll feel a little more confident in my abilities. And I can’t wait to take her to some of my favorite workouts classes while she’s here, too!

Get a body check – This one isn’t quite as fun as the others but it’s probably the most important thing I’ll do this spring. I’ve been suffering from shoulder pain for months now and it’s really limited what I can do in my workout classes, not to mention the constant pain. I’ve been telling Victoria I’ll go see the guy who helped nurse her shoulder back to health, but of course, I’ve made every excuse in the book as to why I haven’t done it yet. Putting it on my list to keep myself accountable!

So there you have it! If you’re looking for more ideas, you can read my Spring bucket list (2017), Spring bucket list (2018), Summer bucket list (2017), and Summer bucket list (2018).

And if you missed yesterday’s blog post, I shared a round-up of outfit ideas for the spring and summer ahead, all of which are on sale 20-25% off through tonight.

I’d love to hear what’s on your spring bucket list down in the comments!

You always have the cutest bucket lists!! I can’t help check a few off — baiting, 360 views and Cross Fit! I used to go to CrossFit at midtown until I hurt myself last year and want to get back into it. I felt so strong!
