I’m making this short and sweet! Several weeks ago I decided I was going to attempt a sugar detox by completely eliminating the massive amount of sweets I consume in a week. Several of you asked me to follow-up and let you know how it went and here I am! I made it past my five day commitment and practiced amazing self control when I turned down the world’s most perfectly sprinkled donut. I was probably delirious at that point, but it was pretty. I broke the streak on the twelfth day for a very, very good reason and indulged a little (okay, a lot) at Kansas City Blogger Brunch.
What I’m going to say is probably going to annoy you, but…I didn’t feel any different. I had no extra energy and the scale hovered around the same number that it usually does. I’m sure there are people who will tell me that I needed to stick to it a little longer to really see a difference. For me it all comes down to the bottom line: I want to enjoy life and eating donuts and cupcakes make me happy. I work hard to stay in shape and if I want a wedding cake cookie from Latte Land (now Kaldi’s?), why should I deprive myself?
It all comes down to one little word: moderation. We’ve all heard it before. Now, go get yourself a donut and enjoy the day!
I love your outlook. Life would be no fun without a little sweetness here and there 🙂
Moderation, yessss! Preach it.
Good for you for giving the detox a try and seeing how it worked (or didn’t) for you. I don’t know if I have that kind of willpower, haha. 😉

I give you so much credit for making it 12 days!! I have absolutely no self control when it comes to sweets, so kudos to you!

Yay! I big part of me was hoping that you wouldn’t say that you feel so much better and more energized, because then that would mean I should give up sugar, too:) I totally agree that it’s all about moderation and life is too short to deprive yourself of a sweet treat:)
Interesting! I am ALL about moderation. I would never be successful at keeping up with working out and maintaining my weight, or even losing like I’m trying to do, without indulging a little bit! Eating one slice of pizza is not going to kill anyone, and I think that is the same thing you are getting at here 🙂 LOVE IT!
Wow! Props for making it 12 days. I would not have made it past the 1st day with how big of a sweet tooth I have. Is it wrong to say I’m glad you didn’t feel any different? One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say you should cut out certain things. How about I cut that negativity out of my life!
Let’s just say, it’s not happening again! haha
I completely agree!
I was secretly hoping that too 😉
It’s all good in moderation!

I love sweets. I hear ppl going on a no sweet diet. no thank you.
I agree with you moderation is key! I have a serious sweet tooth so I have to practice moderation and detox every now and again it usually works wonders for my skin but no change in energy either. Stopping by via the BeautifulYou link up 🙂
I’m so happy you did a follow up! I tried to do this a few times with no luck, so I’m happy that moderation is the key to success 🙂 Plus, you be running all around town, so you deserve a donut – or two 🙂 xx
I tried removing sweets as well but really, what is the point of living without some fun and joy! Haha! I realized that I shouldn’t be depriving myself of happiness that eating sweets bring. I should just have it in moderation and balance everything out with a good, intense workout.

Girl after my own heart! I totally agree with this! 🙂
