Update: 23 by 28

I do believe it’s time to give you all a little update. How a whole precious month has slipped through my fingers is beyond me. If you’re new around here, I’m working on accomplishing a list of 23 things by the time my 28th birthday rolls around next July. Random number, I know. Check out the full 23 by 28 list.

1. Make a shorter list.

10. Take a road trip. I’m gearing up for several trips in the next month or so. First up #5GirlsOneLake at Table Rock for my good friend Whitney’s fling before the ring! We’re leaving bright and early on Thursday morning and I’m looking forward to a much needed escape from the hustle and bustle that has consumed my life as of late.
12. Read more. See what I’m currently reading. I came across a few others over the last week or so that are going on my list, one of them being “Dream Year” by Ben Arment.

13. Take a yoga class. I did it! I took my first ever yoga class and it was amazing.

14. Start or join a book club. Raise your hand if you’re joining Sarah, Sam and I this August for our first ever virtual #BookClubBlogger meet up! I can’t wait to chat with all of you ladies and motivate each other to chase our dreams, whatever they may be.

17. Venture outside of my comfort zone and start taking more risks (both big and small). I’ve been following along with The Everygirl’s challenge: 30 Days of Advancing Your Career and I think it’s high time I stop wishing/hoping/talking and start doing

18. Run/walk/jog/elliptical my way through 1,000 miles. – I’ve logged 42 miles, oy. I have a long road ahead of me. It’s become painfully obvious that registering for a half marathon the weekend after Labor Day was a rookie move on my part.

22. Start an address book. I guess I should have clarified this a bit, I don’t really want an address book. I just want a book filled with all of my friend’s and family’s addresses so that I have them in one spot. My current situation is less than ideal considering I’ve got them saved in my phone, in my planner and even in emails from way back when. Now on the hunt for a cute notebook.

23. Write a letter to myself to be opened on my 28th birthday. Signed and sealed. Reading the last letter to myself was an eye-opener for sure. I’m hoping this next time around I feel differently.

After I created this list, I realized I left off something very important: create a reader survey for the blog. After months of procrastination, I finally put one together and the response so far has been encouraging! If you still haven’t taken it yet, you can give me your feedback here.

I’ll be updating this list monthly in hopes that it will keep me in check.

Now it’s your turn, what are some of your goals for the next year? How are you setting yourself up to accomplish them? I would love to hear them.

My biggest goal right now is to start saving more money. I’ve put so much money into my friend’s wedding celebrations coming up in a few weeks and I didn’t realize how expensive being a bridesmaid could be! Time to start saving so I can buy a new car….or a house!

  5. Love how you’re keeping up with your goals so well! I totally need one place with everyone’s addresses/phone numbers. I don’t know what I would do if I lost my phone. Be totally lost, I guess:) It’s already mid August! How did this happen?!

I love the idea of doing a goal-setting list. I am going to be 25 this year, so maybe I should make one for by the time I’m 30. I like that you’ve definitely had realistic ones too! Writing a letter for you to open on your birthday is such a neat idea!

  16. You’ve already accomplished quite a bit! And I totally love your book club! I so want to join, although I don’t think I’ll have the book read in enough time. Next month for sure!
