I swear I was just telling you all to enjoy the weekend and the next thing I know, Monday shows up at my door! When your weekend agenda includes festivities like Kansas City Fashion Week and birthday celebrations, I guess it’s a given that time will fly.
First things first, my getup for KCFW. KC Garment District was kind enough to let me pull a look for the event and while the gesture didn’t completely eliminate the stress of what to wear, it certainly helped! I typically stick to all black ensembles, but I knew I needed to spice things up a bit. Courtney led me around the store and set me up with a plethora of choices and I ended up with an outfit outside of my comfort zone.

Thank you to Ashley and Sabrina for the photos! |
Enough about me, you’re here for the show! After mapping out our weekend, I decided to attend the Friday night show, which meant I would be missing out on the Project Runway designers that were showing on Saturday night, but a certain someone had a birthday to celebrate and I wouldn’t miss that for the world.
Right off the bat Architexture wowed me with this hot pink number and sheer sleeved top. What I like most about their designs is that everything is so wearable – pieces that I can genuinely see myself incorporating into my wardrobe. A top and skirt? I can handle that.
The neon yellow coming down the runway was electric and while I don’t have anywhere to wear a floor length dress to anytime soon, I would gladly welcome the shorter hemmed look to my clothing rack.
After a brief cocktail break, Alicia Janesko showcased her caftans and resort wear and pleased the crowd with more bright colors, head pieces and some serious shine!
How happy does she look?! One look at that sequined beauty and I can begin to image how much work went into her line. I’m guessing it was an incredible amount of time.
Heidi Herrman closed out the show with more pops of yellow. Are they all onto something?! I have a feeling we will be seeing a whole lot more where that came from come spring and I don’t hate it.
Ashley, Sabrina and I had a great time hamming it up in the photo booth and catching up with faces we hadn’t seen in awhile. See you in the spring, Kansas City Fashion Week!
p/s Happy birthday to my biggest supporter and the guy who always keeps me on my toes, Pete!
I am in LOVE with your outfit!!!
Great outfit pick! That lime green dress is amazing!

I love the floor length neon yellow dress by Architexture. But, I can definitely see myself wearing the dress in the final pic by Heidi Hermann!
Loveee this outfit! Red is always my favorite color to mix with black and white.
Cute outfit! What do you think of the Target boots? They look great but I’m worried they wouldn’t be comfortable
You look adorable! You should go out of your comfort zone more often:)
This looks like such a fun event! I love the style on the runway!

You should definitely join in the fun this spring!
I wore them all around Chicago a few weekends ago and surprisingly, my feet didn’t ache too bad! However, I did wear them with socks at that time since I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking.
Thanks lady!
This comment makes me oh so HAPPYYYYY!
Can I just tell you that I totally hit up the Garment District for this dress today. Yep, sure did. Drove downtown to pick it up – all from this look girly! I loved getting to sit by you during these shows! It was a blast! Great recap!

Love this post! I remember when I went to one of Chicago’s first-ever Fashion Weeks (which was my initial taste of FW). I was blown away!
It’s awesome to see this tradition in cities beyond the Big Four (NYC, London, Milan, Paris) — even if it’s a bit smaller scale. Still so much fun! So glad you had a good time (though next time, it’s New York or bust). 😉
And yes, my weekends tend to go the exact same way… Thank you for your tweet + hope your week is off to a good start! x
I love your black and white dress! The cut is so flattering!
