Happy Saturday, friends! I usually share my weekly rounds post on Friday, but I had a brand collaboration that went up yesterday (I shared all my favorite spots to eat and drink in the Gold Coast!) so you’re getting a special weekend edition.Backtracking a bit, I hosted a night of yoga at Athleta the Wednesday before last and was blown away by all the smiling faces that showed up to flow! Then on Saturday, I moderated my first-ever panel at Athleta and guess what? I didn’t die! Claire was one of the panelists and is the co-founder of Luna Bay Booch, a hard kombucha brand set to launch this summer! It was fascinating listening to her talk about getting the business off the ground and all the little things you don’t always think of that go into making a product. I love that they care about sourcing their ingredients (and shopping locally as much as possible!) and do their research prior to making a batch. For instance, ordering a lemon doesn’t always mean they’re just getting a lemon, they have to be super careful to check if there is anything else added and you’d be surprised! And if you’re wondering, the kombucha is absolutely delicious and will be available at spots like Happy Camper and Whole Foods.
I also put together my spring bucket list last week and had a chance to try the floating meditation class at exhale and it was beyond relaxing. Basically, you’re fully cocooned in a silk drape hanging from the ceiling. I had a great view out the window and let myself drift in and out of thought watching the clouds roll through the sky before class started. Follow that by 30 minutes of guided meditation/movement and I practically floated right on out of there.
This week I really committed to getting back on track with my workouts and it felt so good to be active everyday in between a ton of screen time. I’m sore in the best way possible and looking forward to taking class at Ethos today with some friends! Saturdays are team-based days and it’s always a lot of fun – I’m super competitive. 😆
It’s supposed to be gorgeous out the rest of the weekend and even though I’ve got a few things I need to get checked off my to-do list, I’m hoping to spend some time outdoors to soak it all up.
I hope you enjoy this week’s round-up of links!
Song of the week: Better – Khalid. Turn it up and listen as you browse. 🙂
LINKS I’VE LOVED LATELY:
- In an effort to *hopefully* heal some of my ailments from the inside out, I’m working to get my gut health in check. After talking with my friend May who runs Nutrition Happens she mentioned I could really benefit from a daily vitamin and Ritual vitamins are her pill of choice. If they’re good enough for her, they’re good enough for me! I’ve taken them before (after receiving a free month sample from the brand) and then got lazy and didn’t reorder. I’m back on board with Ritual vitamins and am committed to taking them everyday! You can get 10% off your first 3 months through April 30th.
- I got a ginormous rainbow reusable straw at an event last month and funnily enough, anytime I shared to my stories I got questions about it! I’d been taking it on the go with me and in true Jess fashion, I lost it on my commute the other day and was borderline devastated when I realized. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so I reached out to the PR team from the event and they sent me a link where they purchased them! $5 for 24, which is a steal. I don’t need quite that many, but the price is right.
- CBD me. I got a superhUe drink in a gift bag from an event I went to last weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the taste. I’m not one for super sweet/sugary drinks and the blue majik, lemon, and mint combo was really, really good. Love that they’re a Chicago-based company, too!
- Dying to get a custom Read Receipts t-shirt. Thinking I might have to go with something along the lines of fuck boys/fuck bois. What do you think? 😆
- Three podcast episodes I enjoyed listening to this week: Girls Gotta Eat: Money Talks with Ramit Sethi (I can’t wait to read his book, I Will Teach You To Be Rich), Bad On Paper: What it’s really like to work for yourself, pitching, finances, and work-life balance when you’re self-employed, and Grace’s episode on the Trove Business podcast (geared toward bloggers/influencers).
- I’ve been seriously contemplating lasers to help with all the little broken capillaries littering my face after seeing Melanie’s photos!
- I shared a round-up of all the things I can’t wait to wear once the weather warms up for good. Come on, Chicago!
- Meghan recently shared this simple cacio e pepe recipe to her Instagram stories and I’ve been thinking about making it ever since! I think I’d add an egg with a runny yolk for some extra protein/flavor.
- I haven’t worn anything but skinny jeans in years and bought these relaxed jeans for summer from Madewell (via Shopbop during the sale) and they are so comfortable and super flattering on (read: not crazy baggy in the butt). I rolled the ankles and threw them on with my white leather sneakers and a top for the panel last weekend and then wore them with block heels for a night out with friends!
- The green floral dress I wore to my friend Hannah’s rehearsal dinner a few weekends ago was just restocked! I ordered a small, but definitely could have gone with an extra small as I’m not working with much up top and I found it to run a little big (I’ve owned Rebecca Minkoff bags, but never her clothing so I wasn’t sure and was pressed for time).
- Love this easy t-shirt dress for running errands on the weekends! Z Supply is a new-to-me-brand. Do you guys own anything from them?
- I rarely change out my phone case (it seems like I buy one to fit the new model when I upgrade and then it lives in that until it’s time to upgrade again). Thinking maybe I’ll make an exception for this pink tiger phone case. So random, but so fun!
- I saw this white rattan basket while wandering the aisles at Target and it’s really reasonably priced if you’re in the market!
SHOP THE POST:
Alright, that’s all I’ve got for now! Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it’s great! I’ll be sharing in real-time over on Instagram stories, so be sure to follow along there.
