Winter Bucket List Recap

Happiest of Wednesday, friends! Chiberia has been in full force this week, but I guess we can’t complain too much on account of the fact that we haven’t had much snow this winter and spring doesn’t technically roll around until Monday.winter bucket list recapMy spring bucket list will be going live then, but before then, I wanted to recap how I fared on my winter bucket list!

Go to a Blackhawks game – This hasn’t happened…yet! Lucky for me, the season is still going strong through the first week of April and I’ve made the executive decision to go ahead and move it on over to my spring bucket list.

Make Monday night yoga a thing – I’m happy to report I’ve made all but one Monday night yoga class and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon! What’s even more exciting, I finally made it into crow pose! I’ve been practicing some on my own and it’s incredibly encouraging to see my body moving in ways it hasn’t before.

Bake chocolate chip cookies – My best friend Whitney lugged her KitchenAid mixer all the way from Kansas City (have I told you she is the absolute best?) so we could make cookies together when she visited back in February. You might recall she had to leave early because she got super sick, but she left it with me so I could whip them up on my own and I made a big batch on Valentine’s Day! Mine still didn’t taste quite as good as hers so I think I’ll leave the cookie making up to her from here on out (*cough* see you in April *cough*).

Closet clean out – I purged and purged some more and now I’m tasked with replacing a lot of my basics which were desperately needing a refresh. In the spirit of keeping it real around here, I’ll let you in on a little secret: I had a cardigan hanging in my closet from Limited…Too. My sister worked there back in high school! Jury is still out on whether I should be ashamed or proud of the fact that I had an article of clothing that old.

See the new Beauty and the Beast movie – I’ll be checking this off the list with Sarah on Saturday!

Get a massage (maybe even a facial, too) – I didn’t get a massage (or a facial, for that matter). I did, however, get a gel manicure and pedicure on a whim a few Sundays back! I’m all for treating myself, so perhaps I should move this over to my spring bucket list (still hyperaware of the need to take care of myself, no matter what that looks like at the time).

Take a long walk when it’s snowing – Does the trek I made to the DMV yesterday morning count here? I’m going with it. If you follow me on Instastories, you know it was a full on blizzard here in Chicago! Call me crazy, but the walk was a lot of fun! I think everyone was in good spirits on account of the fact that it was just so ridiculous how hard it was snowing. People were casually making their way to work on foot, taking pictures as they moseyed along.

Go ice skating – So bummed I didn’t get to this! I need to check and see when the rinks close, but I’m guessing this ship has sailed. Maybe next year.

Take myself on a date – I had the ultimate Sunday Funday when I treated myself to the mani/pedi mentioned above. I also took myself out for my favorite mac & cheese, a Manhattan (okay, make that two Manhattans), and even splurged on a slice of cake.

Give back/pay it forward – I’ve been making an effort to do little things like pick up a few extra pieces of fruit to give to the guys who hang outside of Whole Foods. When I made cookies I bagged some of them up to pass out to the front desk guys at my apartment building and people I passed on the street. One gentleman exclaimed, “I’m the cookie monster!” after I handed them off. That paired with the smile on his face made my entire week. I also donated my old couch to Salvation Army, along with several more bags of things I no longer have a use for. Admittedly, I was glad to see all of it go. Two birds, one stone.

And that’s that! I can’t say I’m sad to see my first winter in Chicago go. We’re ready when you are, spring!

If you have any ideas for things I should add to my spring bucket list, let me know in the comments below!

you accomplished a ton! And aren’t those kitchenaid mixers the best? I use mine ALL the time because I love baking…and subsequently giving goodies away because if they stay in my house I will eat them all haha

They really are! Think she’ll notice if I don’t give it back? 😉 That would be my problem! I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’ve got a major sweet tooth haha. Have a great weekend, Maddy!
