Reporting to you from my bed…in Chicago. I’m supposed to be back in Kansas visiting family and friends right now and ended up cancelling my flight home this morning in lieu of taking it easy here in the city.
The short of it is that I’ve been dealing with some health issues and it’s left me feeling miserable, sleep-deprived, frustrated, and defeated overall. Even before my trip to Florida I was feeling really really rundown. And I think my body (and mind) sort of hit a breaking point. I don’t really want to go into too much detail (mostly because I don’t have anything to share other than I found out I have anemia, which is likely the culprit of my excessive tiredness all. the. time.). I know this will be good for me. Hoping some down time these next few days, a trip to see a specialist, and a few more tests will have me feeling like myself again!
I thought it would be the perfect time to share my round-up of things that make me feel good, also known as gift ideas that don’t suck, all of which would make great presents for someone you love!
Gift Ideas That Don’t Suck and Just Make You Feel Good
I jokingly shared this emotional baggage tote to my Instagram stories recently and made a comment about the bag being nowhere near big enough (but really 😂) and it ended up being a far bigger hit than I anticipated! It’s the perfect reusable tote for when you’re out running errands, picking up groceries, and what not. On that same note, and as someone with a lot of fEeLiNgS~*, I’ve never needed anything more than this sweatshirt. Love that it’s in a cheery holiday red, too!
Whenever my friends come to visit, they joke that my ice roller is like an extension of my body. (And they’re not wrong, because it’s never not in my hand after a night out with them😜.) It helps to de-puff and feels so refreshing. Still remains the best $13 I’ve ever spent!
I fell victim to an impulse buy while waiting in the checkout line and these glitter gel eye pads ended up coming home with me, but I’m not disappointed.
I tossed them in the freezer and they’re are great addition to my arsenal of items that help breath life back into my face in the morning. And these baggage claim eye masks were sent to me by the brand. And when I asked all of you if you love any of their products, this was the #1. Looking forward to using them before a few events I have coming up in December!
I’ve been going through a huge sheet mask phase as it seems to be the only thing my rosacea will tolerate (gone are my charcoal and clay masks) and I can’t get over how cheap these collagen sheet masks are! Five for under $7 and they’re incredibly hydrating. I’ve yet to find anything better, but I will say, the Patchology hydrating masks are just as great, just a wee bit higher price point. They’d make great stocking stuffers or you could pair them up to go along with a few other smaller items for a little gift bag! If you live in Chicago or Dallas, Foxtrot carries them and not only do they curate the most perfect gift boxes, you can have any of their items delivered to you! (Think eye masks, Jeni’s ice cream, wine, the only things you truly need.).
If you’re new to Foxtrot, you can get $10 off your first delivery order when you sign up here! If you’re already a member, you can get $5 off your next three delivery orders using code JESSZIMLICH here! (So once you sign up and use the first discount code, you can come back and use this one!)
Two things that have changed my life infinitely for the better: working out and journaling.
I’ve been itching for a new journal and finally ordered the Five Minute Journal and can’t wait to fill it up. And for my workouts, I use Classpass to supplement my core routine since it allows me to drop into any studio I want when I’m feeling like switching things up! Their sign up special would be perfect for yourself or your favorite workout buddy!
The Equilibria relief cream has been working wonders on my sore muscles.
I just heat up a little dab between my hands and rub it…everywhere haha. Only kind of kidding. You can use code JESSZIMLICH to get 15% off! I just finished my bottle of the 1500mg CBD oil from Ned and am going to see how the Equilibria drops and daily capsules compare. Whether or not a product works for me is so so important, but I’d love to support a woman-owned, local company if possible. From the research I’ve done, their values and ingredient sourcing are right in line with what I’ve been using and that’s everything in the somewhat new territory of hemp oil!
I love gifting the Kiehl’s hand cream because it’s a somewhat higher price point than something you’d pick up at CVS/feels more luxurious, and it’s just really good.
I wouldn’t have survived three Chicago winters without it. They make a smaller bottle which is perfect size to toss in all of your bags or would make for a great stocking stuffer!
This You Are a Badass calendar is the perfect gift for a co-worker or best friend and this box of 50 different ways to be present and find focus seems like a lot of fun/something nearly anyone of us could use.
Pillow spray + sleep tight essential oil + lip mask = a great gifting trio. And for your single girlfriends, the book Modern Love. I just ordered it for myself and can’t wait to cozy up with it!
