Friendsgiving Outfit Ideas

Happy happy November! I’d ask how we got here, but what is time anymore?! I’ve simply settled into the fact that I’ll forever be perplexed by the thought of it.

Do you have plans for the month ahead? My calendar is slowly starting to fill up and I’ll be heading to Michigan next weekend!

Whether you’re looking for something to wear to a Friendsgiving gathering with the guys and gals, a meal at home with your family, or anywhere in between, these neutral pieces will mix-and-match easily with things you already own.

I started to say, if you buy one thing from this round-up, make it these black shearling lined boots I wore all winter long last year, but then I fell hard for this sherpa work jacket I picked up at Felt here in Chicago last weekend–it’s just so good. I was wearing this funnel neck sweater in the brown (also have it in the black) when I tried it on and think the layering of the two tones looks so good together. The suede cognac boots are a great brown for the fall season and dry winter days! If you do decide to get out in the snow and slush in them, I’d make sure to use suede protector first. The black pair aren’t suede, so you’re pretty safe there.

I feel like I always share these AGOLDE Riley High Rise crop jeans and with good reason as they’ve been my second skin ever since I got them.

I’ve never been one to wear many super structured pieces and then the pandemic happened and I leaned even more into comfort over everything. I really like how a hooded pullover or sweatshirt under a blazer gives off a sort of laidback togetheredness, which is something I strive for in just about everything I wear these days (also sold here! It runs large, I sized down to an XS and it’s still oversized with plenty of room for layering). This blazer is super similar in style!

During the last Shopbop sale, I ordered a pair of black jeans from my favorite denim brand and overall, they’re great. I think I’m just going to have to get used to wearing mid-rise jeans again (I feel naked in a 9.75in inseam lol). If you’re looking for something at a lower price point, these Levi’s black jeans are a great option.

Free People does cold-weather wear so well and this fall mini dress is pretty much all the proof you need. It would look great with tights and boots as it gets colder or a pair of loafers with bare legs if you can get away with it now! It keeps selling out and restocking (same goes for this mini dress), so I highly suggest bookmarking this page and checking back or adding them to your “my hearts” if you have an account!

A crop sweater with a slip skirt, like the one I wore last year, is perfect for a dressier occasion.

If you want to go extraaa comfy cozy, these Girlfriend high rise compression leggings in the earthy brown color or mahogany are it! The brand is size inclusive, too, offering everything from XXS – 6XL.

Other great sweater options include this cashmere turtleneck sweater, an ivory knit sweater, this turtleneck sweater, and this charcoal mock-neck sweater was so cute (and only $35!), just a little too short in the back on me. I think it would look so good on someone petite! Another funnel neck sweater (slightly higher neck than the mock-neck, but not a turtleneck), which comes in so many colors and isn’t as pricey as the one I have and shared above.

In the accessories department: I can never have enough pairs of cozy socks come winter and Birkenstock’s are sure to be good. An oversized bandana scarf would look great with any neutral solid and adds a little something extra to a look.

I hope you find something new to wear as the temps turn a little colder and you start layering up and putting together Friendsgiving outfit ideas! If you do make a purchase, I’d love to hear what you think (and hope to revive the comment section of the blog as I think feedback from others also goes a long way 🙂 ).
