Festive At-Home Attire

How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was super low key. I started watching Dash & Lily on Netflix, enjoyed some wine, got a really good workout in on Saturday morning, talked to my grandma on the phone, and crossed a few things off my to-do list that I’ve been putting off! Anything to keep my mind occupied and offline as much as possible.

Today marks the start of a new stay-at-home advisory here in Chicago in an attempt to stop the Covid spike from getting any worse here in the city. I’m doing my best to stay positive knowing the coming months are going to be pretty rough mentally. (Although it’s nothing compared to what frontline workers have been going through since March).

I’m not traveling back home for the holidays this year, but that’s okay. It’s nothing I haven’t done before, just that I haven’t gone anywhere this year. Including home and it’s the longest I’ve ever been away from my friends and family back in Kansas. I was talking on the phone with my grandma last night and we decided we’re each going to order a pizza, drink wine, and talk on the phone next week and I’m really excited for it! I don’t know about her, but I’m planning to put on something a little more put together than workout leggings.

I couldn’t love this color palette more! I’d even go so far to say that this round-up of festive at-home attire is my favorite I’ve ever put together. I tend to stick to dark neutrals during the winter months. But am really loving all the champagne-colored pieces I’m seeing out right now.

You can consider this a gift guide of sorts. Whether you’re picking out holiday gifts for your friends and family or are shopping for yourself, I hope you find something you love here!

I recently ordered this cropped sweater top (I sized up to a medium because the small was a little too snug for my liking) thinking I would pair it with skirts and jeans. And was excited to find this black slip skirt from Amazon’s The Drop collection after the one I picked out at J. Crew sold out. This one ended up being cheaper and I love the length! I went with an extra small because the small was sold out. But am really glad I did as it’s perfect. I also found another black slip skirt at an even better price. But can’t speak to the quality of this one!

If you’re wanting to get this same look and feel in a lighter color palette, this champagne slip skirt and ruffle-trim sweater from BB Dakota (one of my go-tos on Shopbop for quality pieces that aren’t astronomically priced) would make for a dressier, festive look. But you could also pair it with this sweater and white leather sneakers for a more laid back look that isn’t “just jeans”. Although there is nothing wrong with that!

How good would the cropped sweater look with this windowpane button-front mini skirt, too?!

I actually ordered this and found it ran really big so I returned it. But i’m trying to decide if I’ll get enough wear out of it to order again. I have yet to find anything that compares to these opaque tights and love layering them under skirts and dresses with boots this time of year, which are now a must if you live somewhere like Chicago.

I got this deep brown knit sweater in the mail yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the heavy quality of the material (note: it has since sold out, but this one is really similar in style and color!). Definitely one that will keep you warm! And I’ve had my eye on a festive printed sweater and a camel turtleneck sweater. But again, thinking I might be set for the year. We will see.

Any of the sweaters would pair perfectly with my favorite mom jeans (pictured below…I ordered my usual size even though I wear a size down in my shorts from AGOLDE).

Also have the sweater I’m wearing below that comes in both black and gray (and a slew of other colors) and you truly can’t beat it for the price.

I think Amazon can be really hit or miss. But between this and the slip skirt, it’s proof that it just takes a little trial and error.

I had a pair of Rag & Bone booties when I lived back in Kansas City and wore them for several years before I finally outgrew the style and ended up selling on consignment. I died when I saw these dark brown suede boots. I’m on the fence about how much wear I’d get out of them this year, but fingers crossed for next? These shearling lined boots (and the suede cognac brown), however, will be perfect for trekking around the city in the snow and ice. (They come in three different colors. So definitely click through to see the others.)

As would this fleece sherpa to layer under my heavy coat. (Edit: I just got this zip up sherpa jacket and will be LIVING in it! Softest thing I own – I sized up to a medium and it fits perfect. If you prefer something longer, it also comes in tall sizing.) And I came across this Club Monaco coat and can’t get enough of the tailored silhouette. So different than what I usually gravitate toward! This with the dark brown suede boots, a heavy knit sweater, and jeans? Sold.

I shared a two-piece tweed set from Saylor a few weeks ago and it’s now on sale, but then I found this long-sleeved look alike for a far better price.

Perfect for the holidays. 🎄

I’m always thinking of ways to mix and match pieces that are high and low, which allows me to justify pricier items that I know i’ll have for years (like my Stuart Weitzman boots) pictured above in this style, which I’ll be wearing with the winter version of my favorite socks oh-so-soon.

I don’t wear much jewelry aside from a few necklaces I never take off (this double-layered gold necklace being one of them…on sale and would make a really great gift) and the gold bracelet I’ve had for years (use code US20RAFINSIDER-602C for 20% off!), but I do love a good hair accessory during the holiday season! I usually wear hair bows over headbands and plan to add a little something extra to my otherwise laid back outfits with a velvet hair bow and red plaid scrunchie.

Take it from me, you can never own too many pairs of texting gloves.

And the black pom-pom beanie I have in black and red is on sale for $16…broke it out weeks ago when the first of the snow flurries started coming down!

I know this season of life looks different in so many ways and would love to hear how you plan to do the holidays this year! And I’d love to see your festive at-home attire looks on Instagram. 🙆🏻‍♀️
